Lowell rushes for 355 yards in 57-34 win over Mona Shores

LOWELL—The Red Arrow's rushed for 355 yards on 57 carries to help them earn a 57-34 victory over the Muskegon Mona Shores Sailors. The win improves Lowell to 4-0 on the season as they enter OK White play at Greenville next Friday.

Austin Graham rushed for 247 yards on 34 carries and added four touchdowns in the win. Sophomore quarterback Gabe Dean added 110 yards on 18 carries. Dean also completed 7-of-10 passes for 93 yards.

Matt Houston got the scoring started by returning the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown to give Lowell a 7-0 lead.

Fumbles on back to back drives would slow the Lowell offense in the first quarter. Lowell's second fumble of the quarter came after the Red Arrows had moved deep into Mona Shores territory picking up 56 yards on 11 carries.

The Red Arrows defense, however, would not allow the Sailors any points off the turnovers. Lowell's defense forced three-and-outs on both Mona Shores possessions. Keegan Hanrahan and Sam Young recorded sacks to help lead the defense.

Dean increased Lowell's lead early in the second quarter with a 30 yard touchdown run to cap a three play 62 yard drive.

The Sailors answered by going on a 12 play 85 yard scoring drive. Quarterback Tovanian Golliver completed 4-of-5 passes for 80 yards and added a 1 yard touchdown run on the drive.

Lowell scored again with under two minutes remaining in the half when Dean hit Hanrahan for a 29 yard touchdown. The 12 play 90 yard drive gave the Red Arrow's a 21-7 lead at the half. Graham added 43 yard on five carries on the drive.

Mona Shores cut the lead to 21-14 when running back Demar Drayton returned second half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.

Lowell's next score game on a 36 yard interception return by Randy Hogan at the 8:38 mark of the third quarter. The score increased the Red Arrow lead to 28-14.

Less than four minutes later Lowell would increase its lead to 36-14 when Graham scored from 5 yards out to finish a six play 64 yard drive. Graham rushed for 46 yards on four carries including a 31 yard run. After a bad snap, Austin Tackmann hit Marc Destine in the end zone for the two point conversion.

Graham would score again late in the third quarter on a two yard run to give Lowell a 43-14 lead.

Mona Shores would not back down trading scores with Lowell on their next three possessions. Blair Broussard scored on a 73 yard run, Miskel caught an 11 yard touchdown pass, and Demar Drayton went 72 yard for a touchdown.

The Sailors rushed for 213 yards on 33 carries with 145 of those yards coming on two carries. Quarterback Tovanian Golliver added 124 yards passing for Mona Shores.

Lowell travels to Greenville next Friday to begin conference play.
