PORTAGE – Lowell improved its record to 8-2 on the season and 18-7 all-time in the playoffs with a 42-7 victory over Portage Central (8-2).

Quarterback Kyle Nichol accounted for 211 yards and four touchdowns for Lowell. The Red Arrow defense allowed the Mustangs to gain just 52 yards on the ground and 72 yards through the air.

The defense held Portage Central to a three and out on the opening drive of the game. The Mustangs totaled -1 yard on three plays.

A high snap over the punters head resulted in just a six yard punt for Portage Central setting up the Lowell offense at the Mustang 28 yard line. Lowell needed just four plays to get into the end zone. Nichol had an 18 yard run down inside the five yard line and a four yard touchdown run. Jerry Adams added the extra point giving the Red Arrows a 7-0 lead.

The Mustangs fumbled the ball back to the Red Arrows on the first play after the Lowell touchdown. Lowell would fail to capitalize off the turnover and gave the ball back to Portage Central on downs.
